For the Love of Candy....

All for the love of Candy... the results:
Monday after it happened....
Tuesday after...
Today....

What happened to our love bug: Dave & I had taken Tyler to the "Priesthood Preview" Sunday night & left the little kids home with Garrett, which we do all the time with no-mishap! Well we arrived home to find Brady with an ice pack (Good 1st aide Garrett!) & looking beat up!! So inquiring with suspicion ...the story was told to us that Brady was climbing up the stool to get to the counter to retrieve a piece of Halloween Candy, he fell back & the stool (big wooden one) fell back with him - hitting him in the eye!!

So to add to that, our poor boy has just had a hard week... he started coming down with the "coughy, junk & fever"... Monday night (which always turns into pnemonia or croop for us) & couldn't breath real well - so we started nebulizers with him (realizing we were running out of meds)... went to bed, he got worse during the night & came & crawled in bed with us & got a bad bloody nose & it got all over our bed, pillows, duvet cover, him, us... (thank heavens for oxy clean stain remover) ... so we woke up Tues. knowing we were going to need to take him into the doc. to get a refill on his perscription... so we were a bit panicky knowing our poor guy wasn't looking so swell. As you hear horror stories of being accused of abuse... we were a bit worried as Brady still hasn't told us his version of what happened... so we didn't know what he would say to another adult if questioned.

That wasn't all though... the night we carved pumpkins I always take the seeds & bake them w/garlic salt... well as soon as they came out of the oven the kids ran to come see... Brady jumped up on the (same stool he fell off of & blackened his eye) & straight out - laid his hand down on the hot pan to grab some seeds without thinking & burnt his thumb (luckily that was all)... blistering it really bad!! Well to make it worse - he hasn't been able to leave it alone so it could heal, he keeps biting at the scab, so it has become a bit infected, bleedy, swollen, etc.... So gee!!! Our poor boy hasn't been looking good!

So bless his heart - Dave took the afternoon off, as I was able to get him an apt. to see a doctor & he ran him over for the appt. ... Dave felt nervous as the doctor was checking him out & decided he would offer up the information as not to look guilty & the Doc. told him - don't worry - I can tell this little guy hasn't been abused by the way he acts towards me & how he is responding to you!! Oh - THANK-you!! We were nervous we were going to have to make a report with DFS or something!! Last night when he wasn't feeling well & I was rocking him & doing his nebs... his poor eye duct was running wild & it was driving him crazy as he had tears running down his cheek from his black eye!!

Today everything is getting better - his poor eye looks pretty gross, but he hasn't complained of it hurting since Sunday night. He saw himself in the mirror after lunch yesterday as all the little ones was their hands, faces, brush teeth, & go potty before nap time & he came running in & told me, mom I can't get this jelly off me!! (Jelly around your eye?) Then I realized that he didn't even know he had a black eye from all of this & it explains why he acts like nothing has happened when everyone questions him about his eye.

what the??? How sad! I'm a candy lover too. I probably would have been stuck in that same situation if I were him. (on a high stool ... balancing to get some sweets. ;) Get better soon!
