District Award of Merit - Highest Honor given by the BSA District

Wow - We were in for a surprise tonight as we attended a Scouting recognition dinner & Dave was awarded with the Highest award the District can give out to an adult leader.
The District Award of Merit!! Here we are!!

It was all a big surprise, but we new something was going on as they called me for all this information & needed so many details about his past scouting history & service (which I am not sure I could even recall 1/2 of what he has done over the years we have been married.) We were running a little late & didn't get a program, so we had no idea what was happening during the dinner/program & just visited with those around us.

So it was Quite an honor & we didn't even realize what award this was - He announces the name of it, then says he is going to read a description of this person/winner & when this person realizes who he is - would he & his wife please come forward? (How embarrassing!) So within the first 2 sentences... this person is a married man, has 3 boys & a daughter. 2 of his sons are very close to earning their eagle scout award.... HUMMM... must be us!!! (Do we go up, how embarrassing if it isn't you & there is someone else in the room who matches!! LOL)

So they call us up & all of a sudden everyone starts standing & applauding, flashes from cameras were going off... both of us were like???? Really!! O.k.!! Then they had a corsage for me & had Dave pin it on!! (WOW!! That is worth it - in itself!! LOL!!) We were honored to read of all the awesome people who have received this award over the past 25 years (As they are all people whom we admire) & to be part of it. His father was listed too & had earned it 15 years ago. Along with Dave this year a good friend of ours who we went to college with Malea Heward received it a couple months ago!! (3 are given out a year!)

How cool!! (New shirt... no patches - he looks like a rookie!)

Great job my ♥ !! I am proud of you!!
