Dave vs. Surgery

Dave is alive & doing O.k..... he did have knee surgery this weekend (not a total knee replacement - like some of my family had misunderstood.... & we hope he doesn't have that happen till his 70's or 80's.)
The doctors went in w/a scope & cleaned out the joint in his knee, especially some meniscus that had torn/was pushing through some of the layers making it very painful every time he tried to run, walk, & climbing stairs. (Which was affecting the other knee too.) He got to leave the same day & he did great right after surgery... besides being loopy! (Thanks Chels - for watching the 2 little ones while Dave was in surgery! What a blessing!)
We were really proud of ourselves thinking we were going to multi task & be down in UT for a nephew's baptism, possibly catch some BYU basketball, do some shopping, etc. To make a long story short... he felt great the 1 st day (after all those meds!) & didn't take it easy & now he is paying for it!! (He didn't go to a game... got to spend the majority of his weekend in a hotel bed!!) The kids loved the pool & taking a break from "home - GR." Not much shopping was done, but Thanks to Grandpa & Grandma Y... the boys enjoyed the BYU game & many other fun adventures!! (THANKS for all your help too!!) The little ones did a good job just hanging out & helping, they loved getting to play & see all their cousins too. Madi realized that she "Loves commercials"... she keeps forgetting they are called "cartoons".... our children are deprived!!! (They loved watching a few episodes of Scooby-doo & a few others that were on while we were taking care of Dad.)
As of today Dave is in a bunch of pain & very uncomfortable... but doing his best!! He is being a real trooper!! We stopped in Evanston on the way home so he could eat, take more meds, take a nap, & put his leg up for a while, then eat again. (Thanks for the yummy food Mom & Dad!) Then the little kids got to play with their cousins & we visited for a while.
We love ya - honey!! Best Wishes for a quick Recovery!! (He is hoping to be back up & going strong in 4 weeks!! :) But had planned on going to work tomorrow... so I made him call in & take at least 1, possibly 2 days off!)
Here he is just before surgery... (You know he is going to kill me for posting that pic.)!! Then the one on the right is a pic. of him tonight "after" while he "Iced" it. He is reading his exercise instructions... as he painfully thinks about how swollen his knee is & how he can't even move it!! Ugh!!
